With over 20 years of surf instruction, our surf school provides the most comprehensive beginner lessons in Southern Costa Rica. With no experience needed, our teaching techniques ensure a safe, easy, and incredibly fun journey to mastering the waves. Our group lessons at Playa Chaman in the Marino Ballena National Park maintain a 5:1 student-to-instructor ratio. At the beginner level, most work is done in white water. The lesson begins with skilled instructors demonstrating proper paddling and standing techniques. Before hitting the waves, students will practice on the sand, then head into the water to refine their skills in standing on the surfboard, with instructors always staying with students for safety and effective learning.
